UK General Insurance, the specialist and niche personal lines provider, has hired two business development managers to support business growth.

Barry McCormick and Rob Tustin have almost 25 years’ experience in the industry collectively.

McCormick has joined UK General’s sales team to develop its new broker business in Scotland. The role has been created to meet a surge in demand for bespoke personal lines schemes which UK General identified during last year’s BIBA Scotland event.

Paul Everett, UK General sales director, said: “We are well positioned to meet this growth in demand and help Scottish brokers diversify beyond mass market products.”

Tustin, based in the Midlands, will build and develop UK General’s existing broker relationships as well as seeking new opportunities to spread the trading footprint for the personal lines business.

Everett commented: “After a fantastic growth over the past year, UK General remains on track to meet its long term aim of becoming a £500m GWP business.”

UK General also recently announced a new capacity provider, Great Lakes Reinsurance (UK). The new arrangement took effect from April 2016.

Brief biographies:

Beginning his insurance career in 2003, at Kwikfit insurance, McCormick has extensive personal lines experience in motor and home insurance.

Tustin has a financial services career spanning over 20 years. In that time he has gained experience in the B2B and B2C insurance market, specialising in warranty, GAP, creditor, pet and the later life planning sector (funeral plans and specialist legal services).
